A computer takes in information, processes it, stores it, and gives results back. These activities are often described as input, processing, storage, and output.
For example, when you type a sentence, the keyboard sends input, the computer processes it, the work can be stored as a file, and the screen displays the result.
A computer helps people work with information, but it follows instructions given through its software.
